Many homeowners with autonomous heating opt for lightweight and elegant panel steel radiators. Many types are sold in stores, but we’ll talk about which panel radiators for heating your home heating system in this article.

What types of panel steel radiators are there?
All types of panel radiators differ in the number of panels, as well as the presence or absence of fins (convectors). All this affects the heat transfer. Convectors are U-shaped steel ribs welded to the panels from the inside. Open and closed grilles are available on the sides and top of the radiators. An open radiator is easier to clean, and a closed one looks more aesthetic. And his heat transfer is higher.
Type 10
Radiators of this type have neither a convector nor a grill, but only one heating panel. The number “1” means that there is only one row of panels, and “0” means that there is no finning. There is no convection - there is no dust that necessarily accompanies it. Therefore, for a hospital or kindergarten, they are a wonderful option. The absence of side walls and grilles makes cleaning as simple as possible.
Type 11
There is also one row of panels, on the back of which there is a fin. There is no upper grill. Due to the presence of fins, heating is faster than type 10. Cleaning needs to be more thorough (convection attracts dust).
Type 20
There are two rows of panels, but there is no convector (finning). There is a grill for air outlet. Power is higher than single-row models.
Type 21
Again, two rows of panels, but with convector fins mounted between the panels. The radiator is covered by a casing above.
Type 22
There are two panels; a convector is welded to each of them. Outside is wearing a casing. This type of battery is the most popular.
Type 30
There are already three rows of panels, there are no convectors, the battery is closed by a grill on top.
Type 33
Convective finning (three rows) was made between three rows of panels. There is a casing. This type of radiator is the most powerful, giving the most heat and quickly heating up. But he collects dust more than anyone else.
As already mentioned, the most popular type of panel radiators is 22 type. It has a sufficiently large power and at the same time is a compact device, so many prefer it.
Which radiator manufacturers should you pay attention to
Having asked a friend or neighbor what steel panel radiators are better, we mostly hear the names of European companies in response. There are good reviews about Turkish batteries. Next, we list the brands that can really sparkle with product quality.
KERMI radiators
This German brand is distinguished by the new patented Therm X2 technology, as well as the special quality of the radiator finishes. A special two-layer varnish coating is made according to a unique recipe. Radiators can work both in two-pipe, and in single-pipe WITH. They are connected from below, have a power saving mode. Models with a factory installed power level are available.

De’Longhi Radiators
This brand of radiators is Italian. They can withstand up to 8.7 bar pressure and up to 110 ° C coolant temperature. “Standart” models are connected on the side, “Universal” models with a temperature controller - on the bottom.
Radiators from Biasi S.p.A.
Another Italian company produces radiators using the most advanced technologies. Therefore, the heat dissipation of the devices is excellent, and heating is almost instantaneous. They work well at low temperatures. The pressure limit is 9 bar.
Purmo and Retting Heating Radiators
These are Finnish brands of radiators painted in snow-white color. They are made of the highest quality cold rolled steel (FePO1). They have a temperature limit of up to 95 ° C, a pressure limit of 10 bar.
KORADO radiators
These radiators are made by a Czech company. They can be with one, two and three rows of panels. A wide range of colors and 10 types of models, convenient brackets in the kit, a small volume of coolant are the pluses of these radiators. The pressure limit is 8.7 bar. By temperature - 110 degrees.
RADSON Radiators
This Belgian company makes unique radiators. Two ribs of convectors on each channel of panels give high heat transfer. This allows you to reduce the volume of coolant. And the company also produces the Compact model, which is really very compact and convenient for small rooms. Another plus of the Belgian company radiators is KTL2 staining. The coating thickness of at least 50 microns, not a single unpainted point - all this does not give corrosion the slightest chance. Pressure limit - 10 bar.
Demrad Radiators
These radiators are Turkish, and equipment for their production is purchased in Germany. This is an automated line and welding units. The steel from which the radiators are made is highly resistant to corrosion. Enhanced enamel zinc phosphate coating provides added protection. The pressure limit is 8.7 bar.
Comparative characteristic of radiators of type 22, 500 mm wide, 500 mm long, by popular manufacturers:

Quality mark
A highly respected industry standard is the RAL quality mark, developed by the German Quality Assurance Association. If radiators have this quality mark, then they can safely be preferred, take this into account when choosing these heating appliances. Here are the main points that a radiator with this mark should answer (in particular, it marked some models of KERMI radiators):
- Steel for the manufacture of the radiator is fully compliant. It is checked in the laboratory or there is a document from the manufacturer.
- Fully operational welding units work with strict observance of the length of the seam and welding points.
- Persistent staining is carried out in accordance with DIN 55900-1, 2.
- At each stage of manufacture control is carried out, confirmed by documents.
- Batteries are tested at 1.3 operating pressures.
- It is checked whether the heat output complies with the generally accepted standard EN 442.
