For plants in a greenhouse, it is not so much the temperature of the air that matters, but the temperature of the soil. For its heating, special cables are often used. They allow you to turn on the heating at any time, throughout the greenhouse and locally, can be resistive and self-regulating. If you are thinking about mounting a greenhouse heating with a heating cable, reviews will tell you about all the features of this method.

Greenhouse heating with heating cable - reviews on its use

Thermal cable is not as simple as the manufacturer says
A comment
Many people initially do not correctly perceive the possibilities of a heat cable; you should not think that it alone will save your seedlings from freezing. I have nothing against heating cables, I installed it myself in my greenhouse and successfully use it. I recommend installation, only you need to consider all the shortcomings of this type of soil heating.
pros
- in general, cables of 2 types are sold: ordinary and self-regulating with a temperature regulator. For myself, I took the latter, for the price it certainly comes out more expensive, but with it it is much safer and easier to use;
- you need to understand that the cable does not give a high heating temperature and naturally you should not expect big heat from it, so you must first install it in carefully insulated areas. Thermal power must necessarily exceed losses, otherwise the cable is installed in vain;
Minuses
- you need to properly insulate the cable, moisture should not fall on it.

Convenient, practical

My wife persuaded me to build a winter greenhouse for about a year, and as a result, by the past, I decided to make her dream a reality. It took a lot of effort, time and money to the greenhouse, but in the end it turned out exactly what they wanted. He insulated the greenhouse thoroughly from all sides, but today I want to talk about the heating cable.
I immediately decided to lay a cable with a temperature control sensor in the ground. I installed it in order to heat the soil, if suddenly the temperature drops sharply. I thought it would be very difficult to install it, but if you do everything in sequence, there will be no difficulties. Lay it in layers: sand, polystyrene (5), sand, mat, cable, sand, ventilation pipes, earth (I laid a layer of 25 cm). Naturally, the cable is not able to warm the earth to 30 degrees, think for yourself how much is laid on top of it, but it heats up to 20 grams of temperature perfectly. The temperature sensor is set so that at 10 degrees it turns on, and at 20 it turns off.
pros
comfortable, heats well
Minuses
follow the instructions carefully during installation

Not so rosy in the operation of the heat cable
A comment
As soon as I found out that the soil in greenhouses can be heated with a special cable, I immediately got the idea to get it. In the nearest hardware store I came across this cable (Teplolux Mini), the price was affordable, so I decided to take it without hesitation. The cable was installed by my husband last fall, so this spring I already managed to use it in full. During this time, I found a number of shortcomings.

They decided to do the heating only on the north side of the greenhouse (for testing).In the store, the seller told exceptionally good things about this cable, but in reality everything turned out not so rosy. The cable warms up the soil slightly, in fact it is barely warm, apparently something was not taken into account when they were mounted. In addition, there is no particular sense if you lay this cable in a greenhouse that has not previously been carefully made and insulated.
pros
cost idea
Minuses
the greenhouse must be carefully insulated, slightly warm

more than one year

Thermal cable is the best option for heating.
A comment
I approached the issue of heating the greenhouse with all thoroughness. In the end, I decided that the best option would be a heat cable for me, and the cost was not expensive.
I have a thermal cable connected to a temperature sensor; accordingly, at any time, I can adjust the temperature of heating the soil. In practice, this is very convenient, and the plants grow much better. I pull lutrasil over the beds and thus get the effect of a greenhouse in the greenhouse, so my wife calmly planted seedlings in early spring.
We do not use anything other than a heat cable in greenhouses; a heat cable is enough for good heating.

By the way, I live in the Kuban, in March we can have frosts of up to 10 degrees, we use the greenhouse only for growing seedlings, and later we plant tomatoes with my wife in it. So for me this heating option is the most successful - cheap and effective.
pros
ease of use, temperature can be adjusted
Minuses
such heating is not suitable for any region

more than three years

It warms up perfectly and installation is simple.

In my area, electricity costs a penny, of course, relative to other regions of our country. Therefore, I decided to install cable heating in the greenhouse, since it is with its help that I can minimize heating costs. And the idea of heating the soil seems to me successful.
It is not difficult to buy a cable heater, on the Internet you can find a lot of offers. I ordered through the online store, delivered quickly and after the cost, the whole set cost me inexpensively.

The installation of cable heating in the greenhouse as such did not cause problems for me. I did everything according to the instructions:

1. first removed a layer of earth, approximately 50 cm deep, after which he carefully leveled everything and poured a layer of sand on top;

2. Further laid out the mat and cable, at the rate of about 90-100 square meters for each m2;

3. From the top covered with sand and laid a netting netting;

4. and the last step I covered with soil from above, about 40 cm, the sensor is in the ground.
pros
installation, heating, price
Minuses
I could not find on sale in ordinary stores, there is little information about this type of heating.
