In the summer I started building my own house, the budget was limited, so I had to look at relatively inexpensive materials. It was long determined between expanded clay concrete and polystyrene concrete blocks, but after some consultation with specialists and analyzing such a ratio as price-quality, my choice fell on the latter. And while there is no reason for disappointment.
Stacking was carried out independently, all blocks are standard and adjusted without problems, they are also processed with ease, and without the use of special tools. Blocks are very light, which significantly affects the speed of construction. The walls of my house with dimensions of 7.3x9 meters have grown in less than a month.
I was very worried about how the blocks react when interacting with water, several rains passed during the construction, but my fears did not materialize, polystyrene concrete blocks do not absorb water, so the walls do not need additional waterproofing.
In general, summing up the work with polystyrene concrete blocks, I would like to note a number of positive qualities of this building material, but the main thing is that it withstands the test of time and my house has stood for more than a dozen years.
pros
easy to process, good thermal insulation, quick laying, budget price
Minuses
the test of the durability of the material in real conditions has to be tested by example
