Sawdust concrete blocks are made from sawdust and sand, binding the mass with water and cement, can be included in the composition and other additives. They can be full-bodied or with internal voids, the operational characteristics of the products depend on this. There are wall and partition blocks that differ in strength. I set myself the goal of building a house from environmentally friendly materials, so without much hesitation my choice fell on finished sawdust-concrete blocks with dimensions of 20x20x40. The house is built on 2 floors with an attic with a total area of approximately 200 m². He decided to lay down the walls in one block, so inside he made a reinforcement with a metal frame with the installation of a support column in the center. By the way, sawdust was added to the solution so as not to get a cold bridge. The ceiling was made of wood, so as not to burden the structure, and reinforced with a metal corner.

Inside the wall sheathed with a wooden crate, used a 50x50mm bar, fastened to the wall with dowels through metal corners. Next, the crate was sheathed with high-density wood-fiber boards with a thickness of 12 mm, then I think to install another drywall. The roof was insulated with holofiber. The design of the facade has not yet been decided.
So far I am satisfied with the selected blocks, lightweight, well processed, despite the incomplete construction, a comfortable temperature is maintained in the house.
pros
Excellent heat-saving qualities, easy to process, budget price.
Minuses
Not tested by time, relatively small load bearing capacity
Term of use
more than one year

For myself, I highlighted the important advantages of sawdust concrete - its strength, lightness, heat efficiency and environmental friendliness. An extension was completed in the country house and decided to use this particular material, following the example of a neighbor who generally built a house out of it and now can’t get enough of it.

It is very easy to work with sawdust concrete blocks. Sawed, drilled without problems. The material has excellent adhesion with almost any other materials. Stucco stuck, you can’t take it off!

By the way, before buying, I learned that sawdust before forming blocks is processed with special solutions, which eliminates the appearance of fungus and mold on the walls. In general, the composition of the blocks is only harmless raw materials: sand, sawdust, cement. The extension turned out to be quite warm. I think that sawdust concrete in construction can be compared in terms of quality with wood.
pros
Durable, lightweight, heat-efficient and environmentally friendly material at an affordable price.
Minuses
Not found.
Term of use
half a year
